After attending high school in Chemnitz, from 1741 Jünger studied in Leipzig. He graduated in 1745, with a curriculum that included philology, rhetoric, philosophy and theology.
Career

Jünger initially began to work as a preceptor for different families in Leipzig, and did this for many years before becoming deputy headmaster of a school back in Chemnitz in 1752.

In 1772, he briefly occupied the position of principal in the Neustädter School in Dresden, before moving to Freiburg after one year to perform the same duty.

Jünger was a very eclectic transaltor, working on different subjects ranging from British philosophy and religious works to children's books and treatises on husbandry. He translated from English and French.

Jünger is the author of the first German translation of Adam Ferguson's Essay on the History of Civil Society.
