Ricotier studied theology in what appears to be his hometown, Franeker.
Career

By the end of the 1690s, Ricotier was in Amsterdam taking part in the activities of the circle of intellectuals and theologians that included Pierre Bayle, Prosper Marchand and Jean LeClerc.

At the turn of the century, he became a pastor in London for the Huguenot community. From 1703 to 1711 Ricotier served at the church known as La Patente in Spittlefields, while from the 18th of December 1711 he was appointed minister in Wheler street.

He then moved back to Menin, possibly by 1716.
